​A holistic approach to patients with gynecological symptoms and diagnoses

Focus

The gynecological physiotherapists collaborate closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patients with gynecological symptoms and diagnoses.

Hospitalized Patients:

  • Guidance, diagnosis, treatment, and management of sphincter rupture occurring during childbirth.

  • Mobilization, instruction in exercises, and provision of assistive devices for hospitalized gynecological and obstetrical patients.

  • Initiation and programming of Sacral Nerve Modulation (SNM) for the treatment of fecal incontinence, with ongoing contact and follow-up as needed.

Outpatients:

Treatment of;

  • Pelvic floor dysfunction, including incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain, and other dysfunctions of the pelvic floor.

  • Anal incontinence.

  • Chronic constipation and defecation disorders.

  • Late effects of gastrointestinal cancer (LARS).

  • Pain in the pelvic and genital area, including pelvic floor muscle pain (e.g., dyspareunia, vaginismus, and vulvodynia).

  • Urinary incontinence.

  • Children with incontinence and constipation.

Across diagnoses, the physiotherapists focus on education and guidance in sexual health and lifestyle changes that can improve awareness of pelvic floor function and help cope with chronic conditions in the pelvic area.
