About the study/project
When looking at the various gymnastic disciplines, Team Gymnastics within rhythm and jump, also named TeamGym is the largest and most popular gymnastic discipline in Denmark. Currently, the Danish gymnastic clubs experience challenges in retaining adolescent gymnasts in the sport throughout the transition to adulthood.
Among the 13-19-year-old female gymnasts, up to 19% of the drop-out is caused by injuries. Therefore, the importance of developing effective injury prevention strategies within TeamGym gymnastic to ensure that gymnasts can “jump and smile” at the same time, is major.
To address this challenge, the ongoing JumpSmile project aim to collect data that makes it possible to develop evidence-based injury prevention strategies in the future.
See this infograhic for a short overview of the project (in danish)
