​A study on collaborations between hospitals and civil society organisations. Here, we examine the new practices and care relations these collaborations generate, exploring how Danish Red Cross volunteer’s patient supporters create value for hospitalised patients.​

​Increasingly, health and access to healthcare are understood as something created through collaborations and partnerships, for example between municipalities (KL), Danish social housing organisations (BL), and healthcare institutions such as hospitals. With this development, patient pathways are no longer conceived as separate components managed by different institutions, but as one coherent trajectory that must also be connected to everyday life beyond institutional settings.

Together with two research colleagues from Department of clinical research, we investigate, develop and follow the reorganisation of regional healthcare services, with a particular focus on rehabilitation within local healthcare and care facilities. In addition to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Department of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care, several municipalities are involved in this research collaboration.​
