Inflammation and Biomarkers
The overall aims of the research into Inflammation and Biomarkers are to:
Study the role of inflammation in the development and progression of disease
Identify biomarkers that can improve the diagnosis of disease
Identify biomarkers that can predict the risk of disease progression and mortality
Identify biomarkers of treatment efficacy
Develop algoritms that combine markers to increase sensitivity and specificity of diagnosis and prognosis of the patient
Achievements
The hospital has several patents on biomarkers with regard to diagnosis, prognosis and treatment efficacy. Examples are TIMP-1, IP-10 and suPAR
What is going on
A large number of studies are proceeding worldwide. Special focus is on implementing the research findings into the clinic
Visions
To develop and implement new methods for improving the diagnosis and treatment of patients
